Text Neck

Text neck is the term used to describe the neck pain and damage sustained from looking down at your computer, cell phone, tablet, or other wireless devices too frequently and for too long. This is a recently coined term that describes the causative factor or spinal kinesio-pathology. Children and teens may be more at risk of developing cervical spinal problems, as they are still developing and tend to spend more time on those devices. Continuously flexing the cervical spine (bending forward with one’s chin down) can cause strain in the muscles of the neck, as well as pulling the vertebrae out of alignment, altering posture. Pain can be located in the neck, shoulder, upper back and can also cause headaches.

Chiropractic historically treats many types of problems related to improper cervical spinal alignment. Stretches and exercise will also be given to help restore strength and flexibility to the muscles of the head and neck.
