Clinical Nutrition Counseling with Dr. Prins
Every body is unique. Our clinic does not try and fit you into a ‘one-size fits all’ package. There are multiple factors taken into account when optimizing a nutritional plan. The starting point is always the state of your health when you first come into our office. A comprehensive history is taken to help determine where you have been. Your diet, disease history, traumas (including surgeries), allergies or ‘hyper-sensitivities’, as well as bowel and bladder habits are all illuminated in your initial consultation. When you eat, what you crave, how much you eat and drink are all important factors in helping gauge where your needs are. Utilizing the best computer you own, your brain/nervous system, we can tap into that reservoir of information to make clinical decisions based on your own body’s responses to specific stimuli.
As a Professional Applied Kinesiologist, I have been trained for well over 1000 hours (beyond the almost 5000 hours of Chiropractic school) in biochemical, structural and neuro-emotional techniques to better unearth nutritional needs. I understand how food is used to help heal the body at the source of the problem and also as prevention of chronic conditions and diseases.
Most conditions are not black and white. Most of us exist in the gray area of reality. The body is not an ‘all or nothing’ set of systems. One does not suddenly wake up and become a diabetic (rarely). There are almost always signs and symptoms before a health crisis develops. The tools in our clinic aid in that discovery. If needed, we are participating members of several laboratories that can analyze blood, urine and hair to unearth hidden health problems.
Many of the conditions we see on a regular basis include:
- Mood Disorders
- GERD
- Candida
- Food Allergies
- Inflammation
- PMS/ Menopause
- Auto Immune Disorders
- Dietary Imbalances
- Cardiovascular Disease
- Diabetes
- Insulin Resistance
- Fibromyalgia
- Chronic Stress
- Arthritis
- ADD/ADHD
- Hyper and Hypo-Adrenalism
